Barriers To Dhikrullah 2/2
Occasion: Wiladat anniversary of Hazrat Abbas (as)
Hadith from Imam as-Sajjad (as) that every martyr will be envious of Hazrat Abbas (as) on the day of judgement - In the same way, every believer should be envious of him in dunya - he earned ismat-us-sughra through his actions Barriers to dhikrullah (part 2): - 1) Love of this world (discussed in last lecture) - 2) A scholar who has been seduced by dunya (last lecture) - 3) Persistent sinning -- Hadith from Imam Ali (as): one who is rusted with sin is blinded from the remembrance of Allah SWT -- Qur'an 43:36 - One who turns a blind eye to the remembrance of Allah is assigned a shaytan to be his companion -- Examples of persistent sinning: --- not controlling the eyes --- following our base desires -- Hadith from Imam as-Sajjad (as): --- Filling the stomach, weakness of will, intoxication of being fully satiated, and delusion of power, all hinder and delay one from the performance of good deeds and cause one to forget Allah SWT. --- All of these can be seen in Karbala - 4) Prolonged hope -- Hope in other people makes us forget about Allah SWT -- This was also manifested in Karbala, as was the hope of Hazrat Abbas (as) in Allah SWT How did Hazrat Abbas (as) accomplish all these things? - Hadith from 6th Imam (as): Hazrat Abbas (as) had sharp foresight and a firm faith
