Shaving is the removal of hair, by using a razor or any other kind of bladed implement, to slice it down—to the level of the skin or otherwise. Shaving is most commonly practiced by men to remove their facial hair and by women to remove their leg and underarm hair. A man is called clean-shaven if he has had his beard entirely removed.

It is mentioned in many narrations that it is recommended for Muslim man to shorten his moustache. Shortening the moustache does not mean necessarily shaving it completely. It can be one of the forms of shortening it for those who wish to shave it but it is not necessary for all Muslim men to shave the moustache. The Makrouh is to leave the moustache with out shortening till it becomes long and cover the lips. It is recommended for man to shorten or cut from his moustache on every Friday.

Marja' . Beard . Shaving

I have read on a Marja website that shaving is not permissible as obligatory precaution. Does this mean that it is not absolutely impermissible?

Obligatory precaution means you Must act upon it or refer to the second most knowledgeable Marja' who has a verdict in this matter.
