Muslim wife's consent is necessary for her husband to engage in Mut'ah with a woman from People of Book (Christian, Jews, Majos).

If the time period is over, you must recite a new contract, with new time-period and new mahr.

If you still have some time left for the temporary contract (let's say2 days left), and you both decide to extend, the man frees the woman for the remaining period, then recite the new contract together.

Is it permissible to enter into a temporary Mutah marriage through conversation if we are in different countries and plan to marry permanently after two years? If so, what should I say to initiate this arrangement?

Intimate talk between male and female is not permissible with out Mut’a;h agreement (Aqd). You both should agree for a time frame and Mahr (Dowert) then recite the Agreement if Mut;ah either yourselves or through your proxies. No. She must observe the waiting period (Iddah) after the end of the Mut'ah fixed time. The Iddah time required is two menstrual periods.
