Aqiq

Akik or aqiq (Arabic: العقيق‎) means quartz, however usually refers to the chalcedony variant of quartz. Well-known types of chalcedony are carnelian, agate, and onyx. It is considered a semi-precious gem stone, and rings set with carnelian have special significance in the Islamic religion.

It is Makrouh (Disliked) to wear any ring in the index finger or the middle finger. Many Hadeeths mentioned that wearing rings in the index or middle fingers was a practice of the non believers who were been punished like the community of prophets Noah and Lut who disobeyed them.

Rings are highly recommended to be worn in the small finger and ring finger.

Yes it is permissible to wear rings on the left hand. Although, there are several reports which favour wearing of rings on right hands, we also have reports that some of the Imams (the frst three Imams) used to wear rings on their left hands. What is not permissible, according to some reports, is wearing rings on the middle finger. God knows the best.
