Eid al-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر‎ ʻĪd al-Fiṭr), also called the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (ṣawm). This religious Eid (Muslim religious festival) is the first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.

Kaffara is a penalty on those who deliberately break obligatory fast or do not keep it. For those who deliberately don’t fast during the month of Ramadan, for one day,v the Kaffara is either fasting two sequent months or feeding sixty poor believers. It is good to do it as soon as possible and should not be postponed to an extended that it might be forgotten or ignored. Feeding sixty poor believers must be by giving them ready food or food grain and not money. Every ooor believers must must be given either a meal or 750 grams of food grains.

Bismihi ta'ala

Unfortunately, this is a clear misguided view and practice. In the dua we recite on Eid al-Fitr day, it says it is a day in which Allah ta'ala made it as Eid for Muslims. It is definitely not appropriate to change a happy celebration occasion to mourning and ma'tam. There is a time for each of them.

As the hadith says, "Our Shi'ah..... they grieve when we grieve, and are happy when we are happy."

Much more can be said about this, and the most important thing is one follows not what a small fringe group does, but what majority of Shi'ah do, especially our mainstream esteemed 'Ulama.

Is Eid ul Ghadeer considered a more significant celebration than the two primary Eids? If so, what is the evidence for it?

Yes of course. The authentic Hadeeth from the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) narrated by Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq (AS) states that Friday is more important than Eidul Ghadeer is the greatest Eid in Islam. ( Wasaa'il Al-Shia by al-Hurr Aamily, volume 5, page 224).

If one's father does not make sacrifice on Eid-ul-Adha and does not pay Zakat, are their adult children responsible? Is the household income Haram?

If the father does not fulfill his obligatory duties, his children are not responsible about that. The sacrifice (Qurbani) is not obligatory but only in Hajj.
'if the father does not pay his financial dues like Zakat and Khums, the household income does not become Haraam.

Here are some differences between Sunni and Twelver Shi'i practices during Ramadan and Eid.

Ramadan:
* Shi'is usually fast a bit longer than Sunnis because the maghrib time is about 15 minutes later. Fajr time may vary slightly too. Usually Shi'is stop fasting slightly before fajr to be careful (the time is called imsak).
* Shi'is commemorate the main nights of laylat al-qadr on the 19th, 21st, and 23rd. There are specific du'as and acts of worship for these nights which you can find on duas.org. On the 19th to 21st, the martyrdom of Imam Ali is commemorated.
* There are also some other du'as which may be recited during the month of Ramadan which you can find on duas.org.
* Shi'is do not say taraweeh prayers in congregation; however, in some places, people get together for reciting the Qur'an so the whole Qur'an can be recited in one month. Otherwise it is good to do it individually.

Eid
* Eid is celebrated on one day rather than 3 days
* Shi'is also celebrate Eid al-Ghadir and other days such as the birthdays of the Prophet and Imams
* There are some differences in the Eid prayers including the qunut which is sometimes confusing (you can look it up)

Maybe there are some other differences which some others can mention. However most of these are for optional things (like reciting dua) and not requirements, apart from the fasting times.

Eid al-Fitr

Is it considered a Bid'ah to cut a cake during Eid?

Bid'ah is a practice which was not in religion like Taraweeh, yet some people practice it as a part from religion. Cutting cake during Eid or any other occasion is not a religious practice. Some Muslims don't like it because it is a non Muslim practice or social act, but this does not make it a Bid'ah.

Most of guests do not become dependent on the house where they visit. Fitra is not obligatory on you for the guest who is not dependent on you. In case a guest came as a dependent on you, then his Fitra becomes obligatory on you.

I understand that praying optional prayers in congregation is not allowed. But then why do we have Eid prayers in congregation since it is, in any case, optional until the return of Imam Mahdi (AJ)?

Eid Prayer is allowed to be prayed in congregation because it is in its original form an obligatory prayer in the presence of the Prophet (SAWA) and the Imam (AS). It is not like Salat Al-Lay or Nafila or Ghofaila etc which is always recommended. The reason behind praying Eid Namaz in congregation is its original form which is Wajib.

Is it true that one of our Imams (AS) said that one should sacrifice an animal on Eid al-Adha even if one has to take a loan?

It is highly recommended to sacrifice on Eid Al-Adha, but it is not obligatory except on pilgrims in Hajj. The narration you mentioned means the importance of the sacrifice and the great reward of it but does not mean that it is obligatory.

Can I pray Eid prayers in a Sunni mosque? If so, how should I join in their prayers?

Yes it is permissible to pray Eid prayers in Sunni mosque. Eid prayer can be performed in congregation ( Jama'ah) as well as individually (Furada). When pray with congregation of Sunni brothers, you need to recite every Sura and Du'a in whispering without clear voice. This is exactly like praying any prayer with Sunni congregation.
