God Almighty knows how to make up for years you have lost in your life. You cannot relive your childhood, but God can make the rest of your life so rewarding, so fulfilling that you do not even miss what did not happen in the past. You may feel like you wasted years in a relationship that did not work out. However, Almighty God can bring somebody into your life so great, so fun, so friendly, and so attractive that you do not even remember the years that you have lost. The Qur’an says about the magicians of Pharaoh who for years supported an oppressor and moved in a wrong path, but when they met Moses they changed the way of their life and they made up for their past mistakes. It says,

“So the magicians went down prostrating. They said, We believe in the lord of the worlds, The Lord of Moses and Aaron. … We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first to believe”. (Qur’an; 26: 46-51)1

You may not see how you could ever get to where you want to be, but do not believe those lies. God knows how to make up for lost time. God can accelerate things. God can bring opportunities back across your path that you missed, that will thrust you years ahead. It may not have happened the first time, but Almighty God will always give you another chance. He will make up for the lost time and bring you out better and stronger than ever before. He says in the Qur’an,

“If the wrongdoer repents and believes and amends himself and does Good deeds, God will replace his good deeds for the bad ones since God is The Merciful Forgiving”. (Qur’an; 25:70)2

Know that God is your Redeemer. He promised to restore to you the years that have been lost or wasted. So receive His promise by faith and put your trust and hope in Him and believe that your best days are out ahead of you.

  فَأُلْقِىَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ. قَالُواْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبّ‏ِ الْعَالَمِينَ. رَبّ‏ِ مُوسىَ‏ وَ هَارُونَ. قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَ أَرْجُلَكمُ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَ لَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ. قَالُواْ لَا ضَيرَْ إِنَّا إِلىَ‏ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ. إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِين‏.

  مَنْ تابَ وَ آمَنَ وَ عَمِلَ عَمَلاً صالِحاً فَأُوْلئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئاتِهِمْ حَسَناتٍ وَ كانَ اللَّهُ غَفُوراً رَحيماً.
