Burial of the Shuhada of Karbala - Today in Muharram Day 13
Bismi-Llah, Al-Rahmani, Al-Rahim. Adhama Allah ujurana wa ujurakum bi masabina bi Abi Abdillah Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. The main focus of this program "Today in Muharram" is to mention the primary events that took place in each specific day. Of course, there is a lot more that had happened and it is impossible for me to share everything in just a few minutes.
The beauty of Karbala' and the tragedy of Imam Husayn is it has an example every person can relate to because of the variety of people who fought alongside Imam Husayn, or supported Imam Husayn or who were martyred. You have a ma'soom, you have old men, you have an infant baby. You have women who fought, women who supported and were martyred as well. You have young boys, young girls. You have those who didn't like Ahl ul-Bayt and then changed sides and were killed alongside Imam Husayn.
You have those who converted to Islam. You have those on the very same day of Ashura who were guided to the path of Ahl ul-Bayt, alayhum as-salam. You have scholars, you have laymen, you have people from Bani Hashim, you have people from other tribes, and so on and so forth. We also have Yazids then, and we have Yazids now. We had Ibn Sa'ad then, we have Ibn Sa'ads now, and many of them as well. This is why Karbala is alive with us now and it will always be relevant for us.
On this particular day, the 13th of Muharram ul-Haram, the blessed bodies of the Shu'hada of Karbala' were buried. This was all going to be done under the direct supervision of the new Imam, the fourth Imam, Imam Ali as-Sajjad, Zayn Al-'Abidin, alayhi as-salam. The Imam was, of course, miraculously present there. And this is what we believe because only a Ma'soom can bury a Ma'soom. A group from the Bani Asad tribe were there to assist Imam as-Sajjad. Clearly, this was going to be a difficult task, not only very heartbreaking for everyone, but challenging as the bodies were without heads and mutilated as well, salamu Allahi alayhim ajma'in.
Their bodies were out in the hot plain of Karbala' for three days. But the soil of Karbala' absorbed the heavenly fragrance of their bodies, which is why it is so recommended for us to prey on Al-Turbah al-Husainiyya. Imam Husayn was buried. Then the other Shu'hada. Abu 'l-Fadl al-'Abbas, salamu Allahi 'alayh, was buried exactly where he was killed, as they say.
Razaqna Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, wa iyyakum, ma'rifatuhum, wa ziyaratuhum fi 'd-Dunya, wa Shafa'atuhum fi 'l-Akhira. Bi Haqqi Muhammad wa Aali Muhammad. "Wa saya'lamu alladhina dhalamu ('ala Muhammadin) ayya munqalabin yanqalibun"(26:227) ['Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned!]. "Wa al-aqibatu li 'l-muttaqin"(7:128) [And lo! the sequel is for those who keep their duty (unto Him)].
May Allah Ta'ala grant us Tawfiq to further serve Ahl ul-Bayt, alayhum as-salam. Please remember the sponsors for this program. Without them, this could not have been done. Remember, their Marhumin with a Fatiha.
