Everything Was Created For You! - 1/29 - 30 Verses For 30 Days 2022
'A'udhu bi’l-Lahi, min ash-Shaytan, ar-rajim. “Huwa alladhi khalaqa lakum ma fi al-ardhi jamiʿan thumma istawa ila al-sama'i fasawwahunna sabʿa samawat wahuwa bikulli shay'in ʿalim” (2:29) [He is the One Who created everything in the earth for you. Then He turned towards the heaven, forming it into seven heavens. And He has perfect knowledge of all things]
In verse 29 of Surat Al-Baqara, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala explains for us a point that really puts our whole life into perspective. Normally, we look at the life around us, the world around us, and we assume that we're just a small part of everything that's happening around us. There are thousands of other creatures out there. There are thousands of other species out there. And from a physical perspective, from a materialistic perspective, that is very true. We are one of the thousands of species out there in the world.
But the reality is, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala tells us in multiple verses of the Quran something that really puts our whole life into perspective, and I think it really shows where we stand on the priority list of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. What the verses of the Quran tell us, including this verse, verse 29 of Surat Al-Baqara, is that everything in the Earth, so you can think about all the different species that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has created on Earth, was created for you and I. It was created for us as human beings. And then the verse continues, and it says, “thumma istawa ila al-sama'” (2:29), then Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala turned His attention to the sky, “fasawwahunna sabʿa samawat” (2:29), and He decided and decreed for them to be seven skies.
In other words, those skies were also created for you and I. And this really helps us understand that, as human beings, everything was created for us. Everything was created for us to reach the level of perfection that we need to reach. And here we are in our lives, busy with basic things in our life, and maybe my career, my job, and all of these things are important, of course, but not to the extent that they make me forget about the main purpose behind my creation.
If I am so important that Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala created the heavens and the Earth for me, and for me to reach the level of perfection that I need to reach, then I need to take my own life more seriously, and I need to understand what type of an opportunity Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala has granted to me.
Assalamu ʿalaykum wa rahmatu Allah. (May the peace and mercy of Allah be upon you)
