Menstruation (Haidh), also known as a period or monthly, is the regular discharge of blood and mucosal tissue (known as menses) from the inner lining of the uterus through the vagina. The first period usually begins between twelve and fifteen years of age, a point in time known as menarche. However, periods may occasionally start as young as eight years old and still be considered normal.

Husband . Divorce . Menstruation (Haidh)

My husband has issued divorce to me on two separate occasions while I was menstruating. He believes that these divorces are not considered valid, while I believe they are. What is the ruling on this matter?

The divorce would not be valid if that was the case, and the best thing to do is for you both to refer to a qualified scholar for marriage counselling, and if no solution can be made and there is no hope for reconciliation, then husband can inform the qualified scholar and conduct the divorce in the correct way, meeting all the valid requirements, and give a document for it as well.

How should one determine when to perform Ghusl if their menstrual period stops and starts towards the end, and they are not sure if it has fully ended? Is it permissible to wait a day or two before doing Ghusl to be sure?

You need to be sure that the menstruation cycle has ended and there is no blood at all, then perform Ghusl of Haydh. If you doubt that the menstruation might not finished yet, you need to wait and check till you become sure that menstruation has really ended.

Minimum period of menstruation is three days continuously and maximum period of menstruation is ten continuous days. Bleeding after ten days is not menstruation but Estihadha during which SALAH is obligatory with rules of Wudhu or Ghusl.

I performed Mut'ah for a period of 6 months. Can I increase the limit of this Mut'ah before it comes to an end?

No change in the Mut’ah contract is allowed .The period of the Mut’ah must end or be terminated then you need to recite another Mut’ah contract with new period.

Allah's Wisdom and Knowledge and Mercy determine which age, country, place, family ,father, mother, etc each one should come to this world.

Is there any such thing where it is Makruh for a woman to recite more than 7 verses of the Quran during the days of menses?

It is always highly recommended for every Muslim to recite Quran but when a person is in the state of Janabah or a female is in her menses, it becomes Haraam on them to recite the four verses of the obligatory Sajda. Rest of Quranic verses are always allowed and recommended to recite.
The narration of Makrouh for woman in her menses to recite more than seven verses in case it is authentic, does not mean no reward but less reward from the usual situation of purity.

I missed Fajr because I thought my period is still on and I have not done Ghusl, but now there is no blood. Can I still perform the Ghusl and fast?

If the blood stopped before Fajr, you must fast that day, but if the blood stopped after Fajr, then no fast in that day and you need to perform a Qadha fast for every day missed because of menstruation or illness or traveling.

In case the blood stopped but no time for Ghusl, Tayammum must be preformed in stead of Ghusl.

If menstruation begins while a woman is fasting, can she break that fast?

Yes, fast is invalid immediately on the start of menstruation even if it starts few minutes before Maghrib. She will get her reward for the time which she fasted in that day, and she can eat or drink immediately, hut she must keep Qadha fast after the month of Ramadan.

I have missed several fasts due to periods and I am also traveling today. Can I just make up Qadha fasts as I cannot afford to feed 60 poor people?

If you missed fasting few days in the month of Ramadan, due to your menstrual period or due to traveling, you just need to keep Qadha fast for every missed day and there is no Kaffara of feeding sixty poor believers. Kaffara is obligatory on those who deliberately leave fasting not because of illness or menstrual period, or traveling.
