When you reflect something, you are exhibiting its likeness; you are displaying its characteristics, like a mirror. You should know that as the Qur’an says you are the caliphs and successors of God Almighty. So, you should reflect the character and likeness of God. You should have His same attitude. He says,

“And your Lord said to the Angels, “I am placing a successor on earth”. They said, “Would You place in it those who would corrupt in it, and spill blood, while we sing Your glory, and praise You”? He answered, I know what you do not know”. (Qur’an; 2:30)1

Remember, when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we must obey and fallow Him. To do this, we should follow His messenger. The Qur’an says,

“O’ you who believe, obey God, and obey the messenger and those entrusted amongst you. But if you dispute in any matter, then you shall refer it to God and His messenger, if you believe in God and the last day. That is better and more suitable for knowing”. (Qur’an, 4:59)2

We have to invite God into our hearts. We must reflect Him in our attitude and actions. We should bring good to others, be as a mercy to them and reap an abundant harvest of blessing in every area of our life. We should try to be like the Holy Prophet as the Qur’an says about him,

“A messenger has come to you from yourselves, concerned over your suffering, anxious over you, and towards the believers he is compassionate, merciful”. (Qur’an; 9:128)3

In this case, we are good followers for the Prophet and we are the real caliphs of God.

  وَ إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَئكَةِ إِنىّ‏ِ جَاعِلٌ فىِ الْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةً. قَالُواْ أَ تجَْعَلُ فِيهَا مَن يُفْسِدُ فِيهَا وَ يَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاءَ وَ نحَْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بحَِمْدِكَ وَ نُقَدِّسُ لَكَ قَالَ إِنىّ‏ِ أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُون‏‏ .

  يَأَيهَُّا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ أَطِيعُواْ اللَّهَ وَ أَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَ أُوْلىِ الْأَمْرِ مِنكمُ‏ْ فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فىِ شىَ‏ْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلىَ اللَّهِ وَ الرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْيَوْمِ الاَْخِرِ ذَالِكَ خَيرٌْ وَ أَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلا.

  لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيم‏.
