I had become impure a few months ago, and I was unaware that I had to perform Ghusl. I have, therefore, missed a lot of prayers since then but I do not know an exact number. Should I estimate a number and make them up accordingly?

Any Salah which was not performed with proper Ghusl must be made up again. If you are not sure how many prayers were invalid, you can estimate.
