Imam Ali (AS) did not use his sword against those attacked Lady Fatima (SA) because he was been ordered by the Prophet (SAWA) not to fight, as figh will ignite a civil war among the newly formed Muslim society which can lead to a collapse.

‘Imam Ali (AS) helped Muslims all the time even when his right was taken away by Saqeefa people, but he never gave allegiance to them nor did he pray with them as great Suni scholar (Al-Dhahabi admitted stating that Ali never prayed with Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman any Friday prayer nor any congregational prayer.
