Is it true, as stated by my grandfather, that reciting "la ilaha ilAllah alf" has the same reward as reciting the Shahada a thousand times?

Reciting La Ilaaha Illallah لا إله إلا الله  brings great rewards, and repeating it brings more rewards. There is a Hadeeth stating that if the Muslim recites La Ilaaha Ilalallah 100 times in a day, he will get the maximum reward on that day except those who recited more than him.
