You are responsible to pay Khums on whatever you own including investments on today's value if you did not pay for that investments previously. If you paid previously then no Khums again on that investment unless the value of the investment has increased. In such case you need to pay for the extra amount on the value more that what you have already paid previously. No difference if you receive dividends or not as far as there is a market value of your investment.
