Yes. We need to control ourselves and never forget the fact that our worst enemy (Satan) is always trying to harm us drag us into wrong thoughts and bad deeds. We need to think carefully before any word we later and any act we do, to be sure that we are not obeying Satan and disobeying Allah (SWT).
We also need evaluate our deeds and take account of ourselves in a daily basis. We then thank Allah for helping us doing good, and seeking forgiveness when we remembering any bad deeds we committed. This daily evaluation of our deeds helps us to be better persons. Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (AS) said in a narration from him: He us not from us, he who does not take account if his deeds every day. ليس منا من لم يحاسب نفسه في كل يوم.
We also need to repeat Isteghfaar (Seeking foreguveness) every day and specially during Sahar time which is the last one sixth of the night. Obviously, night prayer (Salat al-Layl) has great impact on the believers.
Wassalam.
