I recently learned that many styling brushes are made with boar hair, and I have been using them for years thinking they were plastic. Are these brushes considered Haram to use? Do past acts of worship become invalid, requiring them to be repeated?

No, they are not considered 'haram to use', but najis, and therefore should not be used, especially when your hair is wet.
