ّThe practice is based on several reports, amongst them:
Ibn Salam asked the Prophet (S) a number of questions, one of which was, "O Muhammad (S), teach me how to begin and end the recitation of the Qur'an"
The Prophet replied, "Begin with بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم and conclude with صدق الله العلی العظیم"

Yes, there is no problem in praying there. Everything is pure until proven otherwise, in this case, you have to have seen the impurities of the dog being transferred to you, your clothes you’re praying in or the place you’re praying.

One of the best practices that you may perform at the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad (s) in Medina is tawassul. Here is a narration from a famous Sunni commentary of the Qur'an by Ibn Kathir:
"Many have stated this tradition. One of them is Abū Mansūr Sabbagh who writes in his book al-Hikayat-ul-mashhurah that, according to ‘Utbi, once he was sitting beside the Prophet’s grave when a bedouin came and he said,
