None of the things mentioned in your question can be concrete evidence of Sihr or black magic etc. Ahlul Bayt (AS)'s teachings to avoid all types of Sihr, black magic and any harm is to recite Ayatul Kursi, Sura Falaq and Sura An Naas along with Sadaqa and Du'a. You then need not to worry about any thing as far as you are protected by these Quranic verses.

Yes, they are permissible to read, as long as it does not entail anything haram, or lead to any haram.

Seeking advice from sincere scholars in any religious matter is very good.

Non religious or even religious person can not claim that he receives inspirations or revelations. Pious servants of Allah (SWT) can be guided through their piousness and sincerity but they never claim receive and revelation.

Sins which were between you and Allah and do not involve rights of others will be forgiven on becoming a Muslim, but sins involving rights of other need giving back their rights to others, either themselves, and if they are dead then to their inheritors.

This question is somewhat vague (for instance, what is "true nature" and "commonly understood"), but I'll give it a go.

As a general rule, the way that things outside the immediate material realm work are somewhat different from what is commonly understood, because we as people have difficulty grasping them. (In fact, we as people also have difficulty grasping things that are very large or very small, even in the material world.) So with respect to the way these things work, what is commonly understood (or even ever understood by the vast majority of people) is lacking.

There are some videos on YouTube,  etc, these days, by Muslims (usually, Salafis) claiming to talk about how black magic is done, signs of black magic, etc. These videos are true in some ways and not true in other ways. So it is best to be skeptical about them, or not watch them at all.

Black magic is a major sin and no permission in Islam for any act connected with black magic.

Persons who claim ability to treat black magic can be right if they recite Quranic verses or authentic narrated supplications from the Proohet (SAWA) and Ahlul Bayt (AS), but some of them are after money or use things away from Ahlul Bayt (AS). You need to be careful before dealing with them.

Black magic is not the only reason behind every problem in our life, but if you father thinks that and follows fraudulent individuals who claim to offer solutions, you should never do anything or say any word which can hurt his feelings or make him feel disrespected. Let him do whatever he thinks right but you should not encourage wrong ideas or fraudulent persons.

Magic is forbidden in Islam as it is one of major sins. Allah Says in Quran: The magician will never be successful whatever he goes. (Sura Taha, verse 69).

Any act related to promoting magic is also forbidden. Fantasy novels that include depictions of Magic is not permissible.

People say a lot of things: possibly, some of what they say is true, and some of what they say is untrue.

According to Qur'an and hadith, jinn and sihr can cause harm. However, many other things are also dangerous; for instance, animals are dangerous, and driving is dangerous. So it is good not to focus too much on being afraid of these things, since fear can be its own enemy.

Also, it is better not to cast too many aspersions on the other half of the thaqalayn, since most jinn are not going around trying to possess or harm people; in fact, it is related from Imam al-Baqir (A) that some of the jinn are better followers of the Imams than humans.

Some things that offer protection are reciting or listening to Qur'an, keeping ayat of the Qur'an or the names of Allah displayed on the wall, reciting du'as, praying salat regularly, avoiding certain types of sins or places where these sins are committed (such as sins involving violence, unhealthy sexuality, or drugs/alcohol), and living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. (A person who is living a healthy and balanced lifestyle is generally better able to cope with the challenges of life, whatever they are, although of course sometimes we do not have a choice about how we are living).

I am also favourable to the narration that says that keeping small animals wards off the harm of shayatin, although I understand that keeping domestic animals is a personal preference!

Also, if someone genuinely considers it a priority to keep jinn and sihr out of their life, it is good to avoid seeking out people or places associated with these things (for instance, do not take up paranormal investigation). This may not be relevant to you personally but may be relevant to others.

Allah protects.
