When They See Their Book of Deeds - 30 Verses For 30 Days 29/30

Salamun alaykum wa Rahmat Ullah, dear brothers and sisters, and welcome to the 29th clip of this month of Ramadan. In this clip, InshaAllah, we'll be delving into Verses from Surat ul-Haqqah. In these Verses, Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala is explaining to us the reaction that the righteous individuals have on the Day of Judgment when their book of deeds or their books of deeds are presented to them when their books of deeds are given to them.

And the Qur'an really takes us into that moment by telling us exactly what they utter, and exactly what they say immediately when they receive their book of deeds. Now, of course, the Qur'an talks about what the people who receive their books of deeds who are wrongdoers say. That's not something we are going to be discussing, but the righteous servants of Allah. What do they say? So Surat ul-Haqqah, Verses 19 and 20, they talk about this.

It says: "Fa amma man utiya kitabahu bi yaminih" (69:19), as it relates to the one who is given his book of deeds on his right hand, or to his right hand, which signifies and denotes to us that he is a righteous individual. What does he say? There are two things that they say in this moment. Number one, "fa yaqulu ha'um uqra'u kitabiyah" (69:19). Number one is that these people are so excited, they are so happy that they have passed the biggest tests in life so wonderfully, that they call everyone to come and take a look at their book of deeds. It is such a beautiful moment that the Qur'an is describing for us, that this person is so proud of what they have done that they want to go out there and they want to share it with everybody. They call out they say: "fa yaqulu ha'um uqra'u kitabiyah" (69:19), why don't you all come and look at my book of deeds?

Yes. It's kind of like that moment where you graduate, for example. Right. And you have your degree, you are so happy in that moment, right. You are so ecstatic in that moment, you can't keep it within yourself. Right. You want to share with others. You want to tell others about your achievements. And to a certain extent, there is no problem with that, of course, right. So you might share it, maybe on social media, other places, whatever the case might be.

These people in heaven because they have passed the biggest tests in life, now, they are so excited. They call others. They say, come and take a look at my book of deeds. That's number one.

Number two is what they add after that. And this is Verse 20: "Inni dhanantu anni mulaqin hisabiyah" (69:20). He says, I was sure that I would come to this Day, and I would have this moment where I would see the results of my deeds. So what the Verse is telling us is that anyone who ends up in that position was the type of person who was constantly and always remembering that this Day was going to come. They were never oblivious of this fact. No one who enters into Heaven or reaches that point, just stumbles into Heaven.

This was a person who was watching himself. This was a person who was reminding himself, who was prioritizing in his life the Hereafter. And so this highlights for us the issue and the importance of always reminding ourselves of Akhira, because the Qur'an says the person who shows up and ends up in that wonderful position where the book of deeds are given to his right hand, he is not surprised by it, no, he says, you know what? I knew this Day was coming. And that is why it is so important that every day I wake up, and scholars have talked about this as well.

The concept of musharata, that when I wake up in the morning, the first priority I make in my mind, before my career, and my job, and whatever else it is that I am thinking about, I make it a point in my mind that Ya Allah today I am not going to disobey You. Not today! Right? Not on a day like this. This is the only way for the human being to constantly remember the Akhira, and to hopefully end up in a position like this.
