Ihram (إحرام iḥrām, from the triconsonantal root Ḥ-R-M) is, in Islam, a sacred state which a Muslim must enter in order to perform the major pilgrimage (Hajj) or the minor pilgrimage (Umrah). A pilgrim must enter into this state before crossing the pilgrimage boundary, known as Miqat, by performing the cleansing rituals and wearing the prescribed attire.

Is it permissible to wear Ihram from Masjid al-Shajara in Medina and travel by closed vehicles to Mecca after Isha prayer, if I am following the taqlid of Ayatollah Khoei?

According to the verdict of Ayatullah Sistani, it is not permissible for man during Ihraam to travel in a covered vehicle. If he had no choice but to do that, he has to pay Kaffara which is slaughtering a sheep or a goat and distributing it among poor believers.

Ihram . Umrah

Are we allowed to wear Ihram from Manchester airport if we are landing directly in Jeddah?

Ehraam state can not be performed but from one of the designated places called Meeqat. We can not start our Ehraam from any other place unless we do Nathr نذر.

Your Meeqat is Juhfah if you go to Makkah via Jeddah. If you want to go to Makkah via Madina,by our Meeqat will be then Masjid Al-Shajarah.

Does seeing ourselves in mirrors or reflections while in Makkah and checking into a hotel invalidate our state of Ihram, even if it is not for the purpose of beautification?

It does not invalidate our Ihraam, although we must avoid it as much as possible and we should never do it for the purpose of beautification.
In any case, it never invalidates our Ihraam.

Can contact lenses be worn during the state of Ihram?

If the contact lenses are purely for medical reason and not for beautification, then it will be allowed during the state of Ihraam. If it was for looking more beautiful or to make your eyes look nice,then it not allowed during Ihraam.

Are children of ages 10, 8, and 1 required to follow the rules of Ihram when traveling for Umrah? If so, what should their Niyyah for umrah be?

Children (boys) are allowed during Ihraam to travel in a covered vehicle during day and night.

'They should avoid acts which are unlawful during Ihraam as much as they can.

Niyyah for Umrah is Qurbatan Elallah قربة.إلي الله

Umrah . Ihram . Makkah

If I perform my first Umrah and then wish to perform a second Umrah for my deceased father, do I need to return to Masjid Shajarah to enter into Ihram again, or is there another location in Makkah where I can do so?

You don't need to return to Masjid Shajarah from Makkah, but just need to go to Tan'eem which is very near to Makkah for Ihraam of another Umra. Tan'eem is known to all taxi drivers in Makkah.

Our plan is to travel to Medina first for Umrah, but my mother will be in Makkah and I wish to visit her at her hotel. Is it permissible for me to enter Makkah without Ihram to meet her and then proceed to Medina to begin our Umrah?

No. It is not permissible to enter Makkah and it’s surrounding area which is called Haram of Makkah with out Ehraam.

Is it necessary for a man to bare his right shoulder during Tawaf for Umrah Mofrada in Imami Fiqh? And is it necessary to wear two pieces of cloth as Ehram in such an Umrah?

It is not necessary for a man to bare his right shoulder during Tawaf. This is usually done by some Muslims who do not follow Ahlul Bayt (AS).

In state of Ehraam, it is necessary for man to avoid wearing any stitched cloth as it is forbidden on men during the state of Ehraam to wear any stitched cloth.

I have a nose piercing with a tiny silver stud and, where I live, it is as commonplace as wearing a ring or bangle. Does it make it compulsory for me to cover my face for Hijab? And do I have to remove it before entering the state of Ihram for Hajj?

You do not need to cover your face for Hijab if the silver stud is not considered by common people in your society as an ornament.

You don't need to remove it during Ehraam unless it is understood as an ornament.
