How Many Companions Did Imam Husayn (A) Have In Karbala?
As-salamu alaykum, wa Rahmatu Allah. The question, how many companions did Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, have on the plains of Karbala? May bring about different answers. Indeed, the highest number that I ever came across was that Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam had six hundreds. And the lowest number is the number that many of us commonly know and listen to in the majalis, and that is 72.
Now, someone might ask the question, why is there a disparity between six hundreds and 72? Or six hundreds may be a number of companions who were alongside Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam when he set off from Mecca towards Karbala. And along the way, they went their own way. 72 is what we normally hear. Dahaq Ibn Abdullah mentions that there were 72 companions of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam at Karbala.
Then I remember reading a narration that Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, had 100 companions on the plains of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram. And that I remember one of the soldiers of 'Umar Ibn Sa'ad by the name of Husayn telling Yazid, the son of Mu'awiya, that Husayn had 100 alongside him. 72 companions, as well as 28 family members, with a total there being of 100.
I remember reading a tradition as well of Imam Al-Baqir, alayhi as-salam, where he mentions the number of 145 companions of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. Now, someone might say, how do we reach 145? And if we were to look and say that the common number is 72 or in brackets 82, and you add the family members 28, we get to 110 from 82. And then we said that there were 32 who were converts who joined the army of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, and that there were also certain servants there. So you can get to number 145.
Another number that I remember was 220 companions of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, which can be seen in the work of Duroufi, the famous book known as Hawariyu Ahl Al-Bayt. In that work, he talks of over 200 companions of Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, Irrespective when we go to visit, Sayyid ash-Shuhada, we come towards As-hab Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. Our role is to try and not only remember them, but to try and apply their principles and lessons into our life insha'Allah.

As-salamu alaykum, wa Rahmatu Allah. Die Frage, wie viele Gefährten Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, in Kerbala hatte? Es bringt unterschiedliche Antworten hervor. Die höchste Zahl, auf die ich je gestoßen bin, war, dass Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, sechs Hundert hatte. Und die niedrigste Zahl ist die Zahl, die viele von uns kennen und in den Majalis hören, und das ist 72.
Nun könnte jemand die Frage stellen, warum dieser Unterschied zwischen 600 und 72? Nun 600 könnten die Anzahl der Gefährten sein, die Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, begleiteten, als er von Mekka nach Kerbala aufbrach. Währenddessen gingen einige von ihnen ihren eigenen Weg. 72 ist das, was wir normalerweise hören. Dahaq Ibn Abdullah erwähnt, dass es 72 Gefährten von Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, in Kerbela gab.
Dann erinnere ich mich, eine Überlieferung gelesen zu haben, dass Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, am 10. Muharram in Kerbala 100 Gefährten hatte. Ich erinnere mich, auch eine Überlieferung von Imam Al-Baqir, alayhi as-salam, gelesen zu haben, in der er die Zahl von 145 Gefährten von Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, erwähnt. Nun könnte jemand sagen, wie kommen wir auf 145? Und wenn wir schauen und sagen, dass die übliche Zahl 72 oder in Klammern 82 ist, und man die Familienmitglieder 28 hinzufügt, dann kommen wir von 82 auf 110. Und dann haben wir gesagt, dass es 32 Konvertiten gab, die sich der Armee von Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, angeschlossen haben, und dass es auch einige Diener gab, so kann man auf die Zahl 145 kommen.
Eine andere Zahl, an die ich mich erinnere, ist die von 220 Gefährten von Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, die in dem Werk von Duroufi, dem berühmten Buch Hawariyu Ahl Al-Bayt, zu finden ist. In diesem Werk spricht er von über 200 Gefährten von Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. Unabhängig davon, wann wir Sayyid ash-Shuhada besuchen, kommen wir zu As-hab Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. Unsere Aufgabe ist es, uns nicht nur an sie zu erinnern, sondern auch zu versuchen, ihre Prinzipien und Lektionen in unserem Leben anzuwenden, insha'Allah.

La question, combien de compagnons l'Imam Al-Husayn alayhi as-salam [la paix soit sur lui], avait-il dans les plaines de Karbala ? peut susciter des réponses différentes. En effet, le chiffre le plus élevé que j'ai jamais rencontré est que l'Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salaam, avait environ 600 compagnons. Et le chiffre le plus bas est celui que beaucoup d'entre nous connaissent et écoutent couramment dans les majalis, à savoir 72.
On peut se demander pourquoi il y a une différence entre 600 et 72. Ou bien 600, c'est le nombre de compagnons qui étaient aux côtés de l'Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, lorsqu'il est parti de la Mecque pour se rendre à Karbala. Et en cours de route, ils ont suivi leur propre chemin. 72 est ce que nous entendons habituellement. Dahaq Ibn Abdullah mentionne qu'il y avait 72 compagnons de l'Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, à Karbala.
Je me souviens ensuite d'avoir lu une narration selon laquelle l'imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, avait 100 compagnons dans les plaines de Karbala le 10 Muharram. Ensuite, nous avons dit que 32 convertis ont rejoint l'armée de l'imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, et qu'il y avait aussi certains serviteurs. Vous pouvez donc arriver au chiffre 145.
Un autre chiffre dont je me souviens est celui de 220 compagnons de l'Imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam, que l'on peut voir dans l'ouvrage de Duroufi, le célèbre livre connu sous le nom de "Hawariyu Ahl Al-Bayt". Dans cet ouvrage, il parle de plus de 200 compagnons de l'imam Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam.
Dans tous les cas, lorsque nous rendons visite à Sayyid ash-Shuhada, nous visitons aussi les As-hab Al-Husayn, alayhi as-salam. Notre rôle est d'essayer non seulement de nous souvenir d'eux, mais aussi d'essayer d'appliquer leurs principes et leurs leçons dans notre vie insha'Allah.
